1. rings of saturn. lyrics and music by david hardie.

they told me this city was laced with dreams and gold patterns.
elegantly charmed i was.
the golden rings of saturn.
i lay my head down, another day ticks past.
in the morning I awake to a tower made of glass.

i look at this tower of glass and i know that i won't be the first and i won't be the last
but i can't be the worst
and i won't be the last

will they grow up to the rings of saturn?
do i even care at all, well i don't know.

we're being sold a dream that we never wanted.
i am being sold a dream that i never wanted.
how did we ever buy this dream that we never wanted?
we never wanted this.

2. fateful days. lyrics and music by david hardie.

one night we'd gone out for a drink, the city seemed so dark.
mayhaps the outlook was much bleaker than we thought.
he had never spoke a word, the idea too absurd.
I guess a force he couldn't hit is what he fought.

that week the temperature it rose, i probably even wrote a prose.
my friends went with the daily grind without a sound a posed small questions of odors so foul i swear i couldn't breathe.

the next morning when we got home i guess we had all agreed that the time had come and past;
it was our turn to be brash.
putrid flies and silhouette around the window's screen.

as i turned the knob my breath was caught up in my chest.
swung open wide the door and felt my heart beat in my breast.
my eyes went wide, my mind went blank, i couldn't say a thing.
i swung backwards, to my flanks my friends were caught up in the scene.

i ran in fear. i shut down. i refused to see the truth.
the seeping sorrow in his face,
the lost essence of his
youth.

3. wind in autumn's rain. lyrics and music by david hardie.

i will find a way to be here whatever shade of stain.
nothing tears across the water like the wind in autumn's rain.

4. no medium. lyrics and music by david hardie.

snow falls on the road but it's dry on the rocks where the rich have faltered and honest men flock.
the problem must be ice upon the water.
the fathers' sin.

we know that we fundamentally messed up.
we suckered others into this.
we fought so long to keep what we got.
what was it that we really missed?
somewhere a star will smoulder quietly.

in a far away land gold is squeezed from the sand and it floats above water: the need of the man.
we must have both with no medium.
no medium.

somewhere a star will smoulder quietly, sustaining itself with its youth.
as it grows it happens to burn others.
doesn't it seem a little cruel?
it uses all its energy to blow up like it's trying to settle its own score.
in the end, we know it will not exist here anymore.
we know that we fundamentally messed up.
we suckered others into this.
we fought so long to keep what we got.
what was it that we really missed?

5. Queen. lyrics and music by david hardie.

grey concrete rising to the sky.
i try to meet it with my eyes and i meet up with your eyes.

when the rubble falls to earth, i can in your heart make a hearth.
we can both define what makes us so divine.

sun shine down on me and i'll wash these dirty things into the sea.
if all my life is grey, please don't take it all away.
that is obscene, and this is clean.

we're royalty and we can both define what makes us so divine
our love so sublime.

sun shine down on me and i'll wash these dirty things into the sea.
if all my life is grey, please don't take it all away.
that is obscene, and this is clean,
and i have my Queen.
